I wasn't going to post anything more on this topic, but this is just incredible. Terri Schiavo actually spoke this afternoon: she said she wanted to live. There were several witnesses to this, yet they still removed the feeding tube. Unbelievable. I'm so mad about this, I think there's smoke coming out of my ears. And I don't get riled up easily.

don't be fooled. Terri Shiavo did not SPEAK ... that's propeganda that the family wants you to believe. why don't you educate yourself on PVS .....

WASHINGTON - Terri Schiavo, at the center of an emotional and political storm over whether she should be allowed to die, will almost certainly never recover from her unconscious condition, neurologists agree.
Schiavo has been in the condition, which is far more severe than a coma, since she had a heart attack in 1990 that deprived her brain of oxygen. Under the medical definition, that became a permanent state after a month.
The Schindlers believe their daughter responds to them and her condition could improve with treatment. Tennessee Sen. Bill Frist, a surgeon and Senate majority leader, has viewed videotapes and agrees.
But Dr. Ronald Cranford, a neurologist and bioethicist at the University of Minnesota Medical School, said reflexes can fool non-specialists.
“To the families and loved ones, and to inexperienced health care professionals, PVS patients often look fairly 'normal,'" Cranford said in a statement.
“Their eyes are open and moving about during the periods of wakefulness that alternate with periods of sleep; there may be spontaneous movements of the arms and legs, and at times these patients appear to smile, grimace, laugh, utter guttural sounds, groan and moan, and manifest other facial expressions and sounds that appear to reflect cognitive functions and emotions, especially in the eyes of the family.”
Such patients can even squeeze a hand in response to a caress, Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago says in guidance posted on its Internet Web site.
“Sadly, these actions often appear meaningful to hopeful families but are all automatic reflexes -- not movements with a purpose,” it reads.
“There are no confirmed reports of anyone fully recovering from a permanent vegetative state lasting more than three months.”
Terri did not speak. She cannot speak. She hasn't spoken a WORD in 15 years. She has no cognitive thought. She can't move. READ THE FACTS.
I have read several of these "news" accounts. I honestly believe that the PROPAGANDA is being put forth by Michael Schiavo and his lawyer. Terri's parents have no obviously evil motives for keeping her alive, yet Michael has a number of obvious reasons for wanting her dead. The fact is, there are QUESTIONS on both sides as to who is right regarding her capacity for rehabilitation. Death is irreverible (except to Jesus, of course). When there is a question, we should ALWAYS CHOOSE LIFE! I would also add that even if there is no chance of rehabilitation, her life still has value and should be protected.
You sound pretty certain even though you have not met Michael or her parents let alone know how they interacted with Terri prio to 1990. What type of motives could be so obvious you could see them from where you sit? Is it another woman you think? Can you think of any reason he would wait so long in such a case? If you wanted your brain-dead husband dead so you could remarry, why wait so many years to even initiate this request? Do you not think Terri's parents fighting in '93 over money Michael got in a malpractice suit is a motive? His brother is quoted as saying they commented in private that they would make his life very difficult if the $1 million dollars was not split up.
As usual, the rabbit hole can go farther than the media myopic care to admit. The general public, in a helpless sort of way, can usually never know the real, full truth when they are so far removed.
